Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 10, 2026
Applets helps people turn ideas into focused mini-apps through conversation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, and the choices available to you when you use Applets at applets.build or in the Applets mobile app.
1. Who we are
Applets is operated from Germany. In this policy, “Applets,” “we,” and “us” mean the operator of the Applets service. For privacy questions or requests, contact us at hello@applets.build.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Applets, we may collect:
- Account information: your email address, name, authentication details, and account timestamps.
- Security and session information: session identifiers, IP address, browser or device information, and authentication events used to secure accounts and prevent abuse.
- App content: prompts, chat messages, uploaded image attachments, app descriptions, generated app code, versions, and related metadata.
- Sharing activity: public applet versions, share codes, gallery activity, saves, views, forks, and upvotes when you choose to share or interact with shared content.
- Credits and purchase records: credit balances, transaction records, and purchase identifiers. When purchases are enabled, payments are handled through the relevant app-store and RevenueCat systems; Applets does not receive your full payment-card number.
- Mobile analytics: product, touch-interaction, screen, and reliability events from the mobile app. This may include selected sanitized native and WebView error messages to diagnose failures. When enabled, the mobile app also uses masked session replay with text inputs, images, sandboxed views, console logs, and network telemetry excluded. This is enabled by default and can be turned off at any time in Profile. When turned off, the app clears its local PostHog identity and queued analytics data; reliability errors without account identity may still be sent.
- Public-site measurement: the public website may use PostHog in cookieless mode to measure aggregate page views and explicit interaction events. In this mode, Applets does not use cookies, local storage, session storage, user identification, autocapture, or session recording for web analytics.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- provide accounts, conversations, applet generation, applet sharing, and related features;
- send verification and account-recovery emails;
- process credits, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain service security;
- send prompts and relevant attachments to configured AI providers to provide chat and generation features;
- measure usage, diagnose reliability issues, and improve Applets through product analytics; and
- meet legal, accounting, and compliance obligations.
4. Legal bases
Depending on the situation, we process information because it is necessary to provide the service you requested, to comply with a legal obligation, to protect the service and its users, or because we have a legitimate interest in operating, securing, measuring, and improving Applets. For product analytics, we provide clear information and an easy opt-out in Profile. Analytics is not required to use the core service.
5. Service providers
We use trusted providers to operate Applets. These may include Cloudflare for delivery, security, Workers, and R2 storage; Neon/PostgreSQL for application data; Postmark for authentication email; PostHog Cloud EU for analytics; RevenueCat and app-store providers for enabled purchases; and configured AI providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, DeepSeek, or Google. Providers process information only as needed for their services and under their own terms and privacy notices.
6. Sharing and public applets
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers described above, when required by law, or when necessary to protect Applets and its users. If you publish or share an applet, the shared version and associated public details may be accessible to anyone with the link or through public Applets surfaces. Keep private or sensitive information out of applet prompts, attachments, and generated content that you intend to share.
7. Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Applets, maintain security, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and keep appropriate backups. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us. Some information may remain where retention is required by law or necessary for legitimate security and accounting purposes.
8. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, as well as the right to data portability and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact us first so we can try to resolve your request directly.
9. Children
Applets is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under that age. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.
10. International processing and security
Applets and its providers may process information in countries outside your own. We use appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards where required. No service can guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, and misuse.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Applets changes. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material.
